KARACHI, Jan 15: Sindh Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has said that the government is making efforts to promote technical and vocational education and Rs10 million have been earmarked for students in remote areas of the province.

Reviewing the arrangements for holding of Pakistan Job Fair-2002 here on Tuesday, he said unemployment was a major problem of the country and the private sector should come forward to cooperate with the government in this regard.

He called for constitution of committees comprising citizens from different walks of life and establishment of a web-site to ensure employment on merit.

The job fair will be held from April 9 to April 16 at the Expo Centre.

Chairman of Governor’s Inspection, Inquiry and Implementation Team, Brig A.S. Nasir, briefed the minister about the fair.

About one million people, besides government departments, armed forces, Export Promotion Bureau, overseas employment agencies, hotels, industries, information technology companies and multinational corporations are expected to participate in the fair.—PPI
