NOUAKCHOTT, Aug 7: Sidy Mohamed Ould Boubacar, a leader of the former ruling Social Democratic Republican Party (PRDS), has been appointed prime minister of a transitional government by the country’s new military regime, national radio said. He replaces Sghair Ould M’Bareck, who resigned on Sunday, five days after Mauritanian military leaders seized power in a bloodless coup.—AFP
