MULTAN: The Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) on Thursday transferred eight staffers of controller examination’s office for taking bribe for manipulating the official data and passing 400 students of BA/BSc, mostly in subject of English, in 2019.

All of them were found guilty in the initial inquiry.

The sources in the BZU informed the agency the students had failed their English exam of BA and eight staffers of different branches of the examination office were found involved in passing them in connivance with one another after getting bribe amounting to Rs10,000 to Rs50,000.

Accused declared 400 failed students as pass in BA, BSc exams

After declaration of the results, Controller Examination Dr Muhammad Farooq conducted the probe and made these findings. The sources added that those transferred on Oct 23 included Assistant Controller Computer Section Muhammad Amin, Assistant Controller (Tabulation) Syed Muzaffar Ali Shah, Assistant Computer Programmer Muhammad Nawaz Bhatti, Assistant Controller (Degree Cell) Abdul Karim, Assistant Tabulation Branch Rana Aleem, Asst Tabulation Branch Muhammad Qasim, Asst Complaint Cell Rana Hameed Mubashar and Assistant Conduct Branch Shahzad Anjum.

The sources said Muhammad Amin was transferred from Computer to Degree Branch, Syed Muzaffar Ali Shah from Tabulation to Conduct Branch, Abdul Karim from Additional Charge of Tabulation Branch, Nawaz Bhatti from Degree to Computer, Rana Aleem from Tabulation to Complaint Cell, Rana Hameed from Complaint to Tabulation, Muhammad Qasim from Tabulation to Conduct and Shahzad Anjum was transferred from Conduct to Tabulation Branch.

When contacted, Dr Farooq confirmed that the staffers had been transferred to different sections on the basis of initial findings of the inquiry. He said that after the initial inquiry report, BZU Vice Chancellor Dr Mansoor Kundi had constituted a two-member committee, comprising Dr Mutahir Iqbal and himself for a detailed inquiry into the matter. He said results of initial probe might change on completion of the detailed inquiry.
