OKARA: A woman lawyer was allegedly kidnapped by three men who subjected her to physical torture and forced her to sign blank papers in Mohalla Pir Islam of Haveli Lakkha.

As per the first information report (FIR) lodged by Advocate Nasreen Irshad with Haveli Lakkha police station, she was on her way to her house when Nazar Farid, Shah Nawaz and their unidentified accomplice, allegedly bundled her into a car and took her to the outhouse of Nazar Farid.

The suspects who belonged to a family that was in litigation with the lawyer, allegedly tortured her and forced her to sign blank papers. The FIR said the suspects also snatched mobile phone from the lawyer.

The police registered a case under sections 365, 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against the suspects.

Meanwhile, the District Bar Association and Diplapur Tehsil Bar Association observed a strike in protest against the incident.

ELECTROCUTED: Two labourers were electrocuted on Thursday when they were unloading sand from a truck in a factory on Okara-Faisalabad road.

According to witnesses, the labuorers -- Hasan Murtaza of 49/2L village and Khushi Masih of 39/D village -- were unloading sand from a truck in a cement pipes manufacturing factory when they accidentally touched live electricity wires hanging low over the vehicle.

Both suffered severe electric shock and died on the spot.
