RAWALPINDI: Though there has been a decrease in the number of dengue cases being reported in the three-govt run hospitals, another patient died at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) on Monday.

The death toll has risen to 41, with 25 victims from Rawalpindi, 11 from Islamabad and one each from Attock, Chakwal, Azad Kashmir, Jhang and Gujrat

Tayyaba, 14, who was admitted to HFH, was suffering from dengue fever.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the district administration was held on Monday which was presided over by the deputy commissioner and attended by MPA Farah Agha.

The meeting was informed that 462 dengue patients were under treatment in the three government and private hospitals out of which 323 were confirmed cases. However, 146 patients were discharged from hospitals after necessary treatment on Monday.

A report sent to the provincial authorities said 9,596 dengue patients have reported to different hospitals so far.

The district administration claimed that though the number of dengue cases has dropped due to fall in temperature, the health and district administration departments were continuing with their campaign against dengue.

Notices were served on 46 individuals for violating SOP on the spread of dengue, 12 premises/establishments were sealed and four people were booked.

Of the dengue cases reported to the three allied and private hospitals, 99 cases were reported to the District Headquarters Hospital.

“Due to change in weather, dengue cases had dropped. However, precautionary measures should be taken to prevent dengue mosquitoes from entering houses for two or three weeks,” a senior doctor told Dawn.
