KARACHI: Speakers at a Shura Hamdard meeting have said that a stable economy was pivotal for a successful foreign policy.
They said that a result-oriented foreign policy needed a wise strategy of the government and foreign policy failures lay in untimely decisions made by the decision-makers.
The meeting — Our foreign policy, accomplishments, failures — was presided over by retired Justice Haziqul Khairi here on Monday. Hamdard Foundation Pakistan president Sadia Rashid was also present in the meeting.
Educationist Prof Talat Wizarat said: “Pakistan can successfully engage others through its foreign policy if we stabilise our economy.”
She said that the economic condition of the country could improve the foreign direct investment of overseas Pakistanis as no country was taking interest in investing in Pakistan. “Therefore, it is of utmost importance to motivate them to invest in Pakistan.”
She pointed out that at the moment the biggest challenge for the Foreign Office was to expose Indian atrocities and inhuman treatment of Kashmiris by the Indian forces. “To overcome this challenge, we need to increase diplomatic pressure, adopt an effective strategy through lobbying efforts against India,” she added.
