KARACHI: Top two seeds Mohammad Asif and Zulfiqar A. Qadir besides defending champion Babar Masih fell prey on a day of upsets on day two of the third national ranking snooker championship at the Karachi Gymkhana on Saturday

Former Pakistan No.1 Imran Shahzad stunned Asif 4-2 (78-32, 28-83, 89-46, 63-33, 14-80, 72-35) while another old hand Abu Saim sent Zulfiqar packing 4-1 (56-34, 19-66, 57-44, 79-35, 67-41).

Former NBP Cup champion Mohammad Ijaz pulled of another upset by getting the better of holder Babar 4-2 the scores being 51-66, 8-101, 64-9, 73-18, 71-1, 59-30.

Reigning national U-18 champion Shaikh Mohammad Mudassir hammered first century break of the event while routing former national champion Mohammad Sajjad 4-2.The break of 101 came in the last frame as he was home 17-74, 72-8, 106-9, 69-63, 3-76, 101-0. In fact, he missed another century break in the third frame narrowly at 99.

Meanwhile, fourth seed Mohammad Bilal and fifth seed Mubashir Raza continued their winning spree by notching up third straight victories apiece.
