KHAR/KOHAT: A remote-controlled device exploded in Bajaur tribal district’s Lowi Mamond tehsil on Thursday. However, no loss of life was reported.

Officials said that an improvised explosive device exploded in the hilly Gohati area on Thursday at about 2pm. They said that the blast took place near the road, connecting the area with rest of the region.

Personnel of Levies force of the nearby post rushed to the site. The officials said that they had initiated investigation into the incident.

In Kohat, police foiled a terrorism attempt by recovering a heavy suicide jacket from a guava orchard in Regi Shinokhel on information of the gardener on Thursday.

The DPO said that the police received a tip-off that something heavy was buried at an orchard that had wires attached to it. The police party reached the site and found a suicide jacket after which the bomb disposal squad was called to defuse it.

He said that the jacket had 16kg of high explosive material and a large number of ball bearings. The jacket was destroyed and a case filed against unknown terrorists.
