KARACHI: Police on Tuesday arrested four suspects — a street criminal, two gutka suppliers and an absconder — in Korangi and Central districts.

According to police, one of the suspects, Hanif, was arrested in a raid on a gutka factory in the New Korangi Industrial Area while two of his accomplices — M. Ali and Mehboob — escaped.

The police seized 700 packets of gutka, five tubs of betel nuts and other material used in gutka preparation.

The Zaman Town police during patrolling arrested two suspects. M. Arif was arrested after the recovery of 140 packets of gutka from his possession while Hamza was arrested after police seized a pistol with three rounds from him.

The Zaman Town SHO also arrested a woman absconder named in an FIR (272/2015), Zulaikha Bibi, daughter of Haji Noor Mohammad.

Cases against all the arrested suspects had been registered and further investigations were under way.
