KHAR: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Monday distributed first aid kits among schools and religious seminaries in Bajaur tribal district.

The first aid boxes containing essential treatment tools were given to 35 educational institutions and religious seminaries at a ceremony.

The event was attended by officials of PRCS, the district administration, and heads of different educational institutions and seminaries.

District police officer Pir Shahab Ali Shah was the chief guest.

PRCS representatives Iftihkar Ahmad, Tariq Zaman and Kifayatullah informed the participants that the scheme was aimed to ensure first aid facilities to the educational institutions to meet any emergency effectively.

They said the first aid boxes had already been distributed among the educational institutions in almost all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They said the scheme would cover all educational institutions and seminaries in Bajaur.

Iftikhar Ahmad said: “Creating first aider at every home” was the slogan of the PRCS. He said the first aid programme was an important segment of PRCS due its great demand and need in the society.

He said 745 males and 13 females in Bajaur district had been trained since January 2019 in first aid so they could respond efficiently during any medical emergency at their homes or workplaces Meanwhile, Project Topi, a welfare society established by students of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, organised a daylong blood donation camp at the campus in Swabi on Monday with the help of PRCS.

Over 200 bottles of blood were collected in the camp.

The organisers said Project Topi regularly organised blood donation camps with the assistance of organisations like PRCS and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre for the benefit of people.

They said owing to its tremendous contributions, the services of Project Topi were recently acknowledged by PRCS on the World Blood Donor Day as one of the top donor bodies in Pakistan.

GIK Institute Rector Jehangir Bashar appreciated the services of the society and emphasised that blood donation was a very generous act of the blood donors.

Maria Gulzar, president Project Topi, also highlighted the contribution of the society to humanity.
