TAXILA: More than sixty assistant education officers (AEOs) in Attock and six other tehsils continued their protest for third consecutive day on Friday against nonpayment of inspection allowance for the last three months.

Carrying placards and posters inscribed with different slogans and their demands, a large number of AEOs including females took out rally to register their protest for not being paid of, since commencement of new fiscal year.

The protesting educators have been serving at tehsils Jand, Fatehjang, Pindigheab, Hazro and Hassanabdal including Attock city.

Talking to newsmen some of the protesting AEOs vowed to continue their protest against education authorities and district administration until their demands were accepted.

They said they had also boycotted their four days refresher course.

Attock district AEOs association President Khurram Shehzad told newsmen that despite rain, AEOs across the district gathered at district headquarters to register their protest against the injustices being done to them by their seniors.

When contacted, an official of the education department Imran Qureshi said the provincial government had not released funds under this head that was why they withheld inspection allowance of these educators.

He said as soon as the funds were released, the allowance would be paid to the officials with arrears.
