KARACHI: District Central trounced Sindh Police 2-0 in the opening match of the IG Sindh Inter-district Hockey League which commenced at the Olympian Hanif Khan and Dr Junaid Ali Shah Sports Complex on Thursday.

Haris Naseer scored both the goals for winners in the second and fourth quarters that also earned him man of the match award.

Earlier DIG West Dr Mohammad Amin Yousufzai played a shot to mark formal inauguration of the competition. He was accompanied by Chairman Sindh Police Sports Board DIG Asim Khan and DIG East Amir Farooqui.

As any as seven teams including six districts and Sindh Police are competing in the event which concludes on Oct 13. The event is being organised by the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA).

Friday’s fixtures:

District East vs District West at 4pm.
