GILGIT: Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to visit Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday, where he will address a public gathering in municipal ground, Skardu, and also announce a comprehensive package for the region.

According to a press release issued by PTI information office on Wednesday, preparations were underway to receive Imran Khan in Skardu. It will be his first visit to GB after being elected as prime minister.

Federal minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur, GB Chief Minister Hafeezur Rehman, Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, GB chapter president Syed Jaffar Shah, and the federal cabinet members are in Skardu to make the event successful.

The PTI has requested local people to participate in the public meeting in Skardu in good numbers.

Talking to Dawn, Ali Ameen Gandapur said the visit of Prime minister Imran Khan to GB would be historical as the people had long been waiting for his visit to the region.

He said the PTI government was taking steps to remove the sense of deprivation among the GB people. He said the premier would announce a comprehensive package for GB people.

“People from across the region will gather in Skardu to participate in the public meeting,” he said.

Meanwhile, PTI chief organiser Saifullah Khan Niazi, in a statement, said the prime minister would spell out the roadmap of Gilgit-Baltistan’s development.
