United Kingdom's Civil Aviation Authority said 44 flights are scheduled to fly on Wednesday to bring back 7,100 people back to the country, following the collapse of travel firm Thomas Cook.

The regulator said it had 30,000 more passengers to bring back to Britain, entering the 9th day of its two-week long peacetime repatriation operation.

British travel group Thomas Cook — that had been operating for 178 years — declared bankruptcy last month after failing to reach a last-ditch rescue deal, triggering the UK's biggest repatriation since World War II to bring back tens of thousands of stranded passengers. A reported 600,000 tourists were left stranded worldwide, including around 150,000 holidaymakers, who sought help from the British government to return home.
