KOHAT: Armed motorcyclists shot and injured two transgender individuals near their rented house in Shama market on the Hangu highway here on Tuesday.

The city police quoted one of the injured, Hameedullah of Mardan, as saying that he along with his friend, Farman, was standing in front of the market when two armed motorcyclists came there and started firing at them. He said both of them got bullet injuries on the lower parts of their bodies.

The police said the injured were shifted to the KDA teaching hospital where they were operated upon and bullets were removed from their bodies.

Later, the transgender community members gathered at the hospital and started wailing and weeping. The police registered a report against unknown assailants and started further investigations.

A few days ago the community had staged a rally against the police for not allowing them to perform at wedding ceremonies.
