QUETTA: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Saturday asked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to bring back all those from the Balochistan University who were sent abroad under the PhD foreign scholarship programme and did not return to Pakistan.

“Under the foreign scholarship programme, 60 teachers of Balochistan University went to various countries for their PhD. Out of which 13 have so far not returned,” university officials informed the committee which met on Saturday with its chairman, Mir Akhtar Hussain Langove, in the chair.

The committee directed the FIA to contact consulates and embassies in foreign countries to get these teachers to return.

The chairman and members of the committee also expressed their concern over finding irregularities in the foreign scholarship programme of Balochistan University and directed authorities concerned to probe the matter. “The university spent Rs10.5 million on each teacher for their PhD, but has only received security bond of half a million rupees only,” Mr Langove said.
