RAWALPINDI: Panic gripped the metro bus station in Saddar when a tyre of a bus burst and caught fire. However, no loss of property and life was reported as there was no passenger in the bus when the incident occurred.

The incident occurred on the elevated road when the bus dropped the passengers and was taking a turn back to Islamabad for another trip. Rescue 1122 reached the spot and put out the flames in the tyre within 20 minutes.

According to Rescue 1122, the tyre burst and caught fire after heating up.

On the other hand, the metro service between Rawalpindi and Islamabad remained suspended for an hour after which the operation continued.

Albayrak Operation Manager Iftikhar Ahmed told Dawn that the metro operation did not suffer any interruption due to the incident.
