CHARSADDA/TIMERGARA:Gunmen killed a cabbie and took away his taxi in Tarnab area of Charsadda early on Friday.

The police said the body of Rahatullah was found near Khweshgi Korona area.

They said a man and three women of Charsadda had rented the taxi of Rahatullah for Islamabad on Thursday night.

They said the body was shifted to the district headquarters hospital for identification and it was later sent to the deceased’s ancestral village in Maidan area of Lower Dir district.

Also in the day, the residents of Maidan protested the killing in Kumbar Bazaar.

The speakers, including former MPA Saeed Gul and Kishwar Hussain, said the deceased had taken some passengers to Islamabad airport, while his taxi was rented by unidentified people in Islamabad for Charsadda.

They demanded the immediate arrest of killers and warned if that didn’t happen, the residents would stage a sit-in outside the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar.

Local PTI MPA Liaquat Ali told Dawn that he had spoken to the provincial police chief, who he had promised the early arrest of killers.

He said he had also contacted the DIG of Mardan police and Charsadda district police officer on the murder.
