PESHAWAR, Aug 2: The provincial president of the ruling PML, Amir Muqaam, has said that President Gen Pervez Musharraf would soon announce an uplift package for DI Khan.

Talking to newsmen on Tuesday, Mr Muqaam, who is also a state minister, said that President Musharraf, on his request, paid a visit to Swat on July 30 and announced Rs80 million for the development of the Malakand Agency, adding that the president had assured him that he would undertake a visit to DI Khan after he made a similar request to him.

He said he had been assigned the task of uniting the party and he would do his utmost to bring back those who had left the party some years ago after developing differences.

He welcomed the rejoining of Habibullah Kundi, Haleem Kasuri and Javed Akbar and said they would boost the party’s efforts for a better Pakistan.

Mr Kundi on the occasion said he was a Muslim Leaguer since 1985 but parted ways partly because of his illness and mainly due to the insincere leadership of the PML. He said he never joined any other party and returned to politics after the provincial party chief invited him to the party’s fold.
