RAWALPINDI: National University of Science and Technology (Nust) College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering held its 25th convocation on Wednesday.

CEO Daewood Hercules Inamur Rehman was the chief guest. A large number of faculty members, students, parents and other dignitaries attended the event.

As many as 360 undergraduate, 207 MS and eight PhD students were conferred degrees in the disciplines of electrical, mechanical, computer, mechatronics engineering and engineering management.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest congratulated the graduating students and commended the College of EME for maintaining quality standards in teaching and research. He also lauded the college for its focus on research and development both at undergraduate and postgraduate level and for the accreditation of its engineering programmes as per the standards of Washington Accord.

Nust Rector Lt Gen Naweed Zaman said now that they had graduated, they needed to take their skills of inquiry into the real world posing unforeseen challenges.

He hoped that they would apply the knowledge and skills gained at their alma mater to bring a difference in the lives of the needy and deprived segments of the society.

President’s Gold Medal for best performance in postgraduate programmes was awarded to Engr Ayesha Akhtar in electrical engineering, Engr Mohammad Waqas, Engr Shoaib Nadeem and Engr Talha Ahmed in mechanical engineering, Engr Bilal Maqbool, Engr Fatehur Rehman, Engr Shahid Nabi, Engr Asad Mansoor Khan and Engr Usman Hameed in computer and software engineering and Engr Mohammad Adnan Khalil and Engr Sumaira Ghazal in mechatronics engineering.

President’s Gold Medal at the undergraduate level was awarded to Engr Sundas Arif in electrical engineering, Engr Kashan Ali in mechanical engineering, Engr Syed Mohammad Ali in computer and software engineering and Engr Haris bin Khalid in mechatronics engineering.
