KOHAT: Three people were killed and 15 others of one family of IDPs injured when a pickup van carrying them from Orakzai district to Peshawar overturned near Nasratkhel area on Hangu Highway here on Friday.

It was stated that the pickup van overturned when the driver suddenly applied breaks to avoid accident with a truck coming from the opposite direction.

Rescue 1122 said that its officials reached the scene and shifted all the injured and deceased to the KDA teaching hospital. It said that the vehicle after taking several turns fell in an old graveyard.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Qadir, Waris Orakzai (1) and Sajjad Gul, while the injured admitted to the hospital included Abdul Khaliq, Abu Bakar, Siraj Hafiz, Yousuf, Mohammad Fayaz, Fazal Mukhtar, Sabir, Salman, Abdul Raheem, Azizur Rehman, Waris (2), Nazeer Rasheed, Riaz, Nazmatullah and Safiullah.

The police said that one person of Orakzai militia was also among the injured, but his name could not be ascertained.

The family of IDPs had gone to their village in Orakzai district to visit their under-construction houses. On Saturday, they were returning to their rented houses in Peshawar when the mishap happened.
