ISLAMABAD: The Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi bench, on Friday directed the Adiala jail authorities to make arrangements for PPP MPA Faryal Talpur to attend sessions of the Sindh Assembly.

Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf issued the directive in a short order while accepting Ms Talpur’s petition.

The detailed order on the petition will be issued later.

Ms Talpur had filed the petition before the LHC bench after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) asked her to approach the appropriate forum to get relief against the administration of Adiala jail, Rawalpindi.

The IHC asked MPA Talpur last month to approach the LHC to seek permission to attend the Sindh Assembly sessions.

The petitioner’s counsel, Farooq H. Naek, pleaded before the court that his client was currently in Adiala jail on judicial remand in the fake accounts case. She was a member of the Sindh Assembly and wanted to attend its sessions with the court’s permission, he said.

Mr Naek informed the court that the Punjab chief secretary and the jail superintendent were not implementing the production orders issued by the Sindh Assembly speaker. The jail superintendent had asked the petitioner to approach the Punjab home department in that regard, he added.
