KHAR: Unknown motorcyclists shot dead a man in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur tribal district, residents and officials said on Wednesday.

They said the incident occurred in Zagai area late on Tuesday evening, adding Tahir Khan was going to his house from a nearby bazaar when unknown persons on a motorcycle opened fire on him near his native village.

They said the 25-year-old was seriously wounded in the attack and shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Khar. However, the victim later succumbed to injuries.

Soon after the victim died, his relatives placed the body on the road outside the hospital to protest against his killing.

They said the victim was killed by his rivals despite the fact that an old dispute had been resolved by officials of the district administration a few years ago.

Later, they ended the protest after officials assured them of arresting the killers.
