RAHIM YAR KHAN: The Kamoke man who had died during interrogation by police was brutally tortured to death by the policemen at the City-A Division Police Station, alleged the counsel for the victim’s family.

More pictorial and video evidences on Tuesday surfaced which showed the proof that Salahuddin Ayubi who, his family claimed was mentally-challenged, had died of torture in custody.

Usama Khawar Ghuman, the counsel for Ayubi’s father Afzaal, told Dawn by phone that he had received more than 20 pictures, taken by the family of the Ayubi before his burial at Kamoke tehsil of Gujranwala district.

He said the pictures showed third degree torture that the deceased went through at the hands of the police. The body bore cuts on various parts that had been stitched later on besides burns and bruises all over the body, including arms and legs, the lawyer said and added that there were also torture marks on the private body parts of Ayubi.

Meanwhile, more videos regarding the case also went viral on Tuesday. In one of the clips, Ayubi is shown behaving in a weird manner during interrogation while being held by a policeman.

On the other hand, the police have not arrested the suspected officials who were booked in the first information report registered by Ayubi’s father.

City A-Division Station House Officer Mahmoodul Hasan, Sub-Inspector Shafaat Ali and Assistant Sub-Inspector Matloob Hussain were booked on charge of killing Ayubi.
