SUKKUR, July 31: Two store-rooms of godowns of the district and sessions court were damaged completely following an explosion on Saturday. The godowns were being used to keep arms and ammunition recovered from accused.

A heavy contingent of police and Rangers and bomb disposal squad reached the place and cordoned off the area.

The fire tenders also reached the site to extinguish the fire. However, no casualty was reported.

The C-section police registered an FIR about the explosion which took place on the midnight of Saturday and Sunday.

Sadoro Shaikh, office superintendent of the district and sessions court, registered the FIR (58/2005) at the police station, suspecting the incident might be the result of terrorist activity.

Mr Halepoto told Dawn that there was a huge stock of explosive material, detonators, and fuse along with rocket launchers, shotguns, rifles, and other ammunition kept in the godown of the court and during investigation no such clue of outside interference was found at the site.

He said that according to the bomb disposal experts the explosion might have been caused by overheating.

He said police were viewing other aspects also, including terrorist activity and whether any official was involved in the incident or not.
