HARIPUR: A woman shepherd was killed and her 15 goats perished when lightning struck them in a remote village of Nara Amazi union council in Ghazi tehsil here on Friday.

Police and area people said that the woman shepherd, who was later identified as Sarmina Bibi, 32, was grazing her goats in the hilly area of her Nara village, when lightning struck them killing the woman and her 15 goats on the spot.

Police and locals said that heavy rain followed after the lightning incident and damaged dirt roads and streets, crating communication problems for the residents of the remote union council.

The streams and rainwater courses were also flooded due to which the flow of traffic was also suspended at several points.
