KOHAT: A Pesco lineman was electrocuted while fixing a fault at the 132KV Rawalpindi road grid station here on Monday.

The grid developed some fault on Sunday night after which linemen were called to remove it.

During the work, lineman Sibtain received an electric shock after which 1122 personnel were called to take him to the KDA teaching hospital. There the doctors pronounced him dead.

He belonged to Jungel Khel area.

FAKE FOOD ITEMS DESTROYED: The officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Halal Food Authority on Monday destroyed a huge quantity of fake cold drinks, counterfeit multinational and national brands of pops and ghee.

Over 960 cartons of fake multinational and local cold drinks, 1,080 packs of pops and 300 kilogrammes of ghee were burned.

The authority’s deputy director Kamran Khan supervised the operation.

JOURNALIST REWARDED: A local journalist, Zulfiqar Shah, was rewarded for compiling the history of Kohat according to the memoirs of the British rulers, about the old places and leaders of Pakistan movement. District nazim Naseem Afridi had announced to give him reward on the occasion of the Independence Day.

The journalist had written a book ‘Kohat Tareekh Ke Aiyne Mein’ in which sacrifices and struggle of Muslim League leaders, British rule, buildings, historical places, newspapers published by Muslim League and Congress and developing comparison of the society had been highlighted.
