DERA GHAZI KHAN: Circle officer of the anti-corruption police station has registered a case against four officers of the Dera Ghazi Khan Municipal Corporation (MC) for not providing relevant record regarding their alleged embezzlement in the MC.

The case was registered on the orders of Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Regional Director Agha Ali Abbas against former MC chief officer Amjad Hussain, former MO (infrastructure) Muhammad Shafique, MC Assistant Tasleem Raza and Sanitary Inspector Shamsuddin alias Shama under Section 409 of the PPC and 5 2/47 of the Prevention Of Corruption Act 1947 on charges of not providing the relevant record to determine the amount embezzled from different financial affairs of the MC.

Agha Ali Abbas told Dawn that according to a report from their source there were irregularities in different affairs of the MC. The ACE would investigate bogus sanitary bills, bogus fuel book, alleged embezzlement of Rs8,000 per month from each salary of 1,503 employees for the last five years at least, embezzlement in the rent of shops at bus stand, bogus maintenance bills of bogus vehicles, bogus bills of arrangements for Muharram, obtaining of commission from contractors of development schemes, embezzlement in map approval fee and illegal receiving of tax or token money from commercial vehicles.

Mr Abbas urged the people of Dera Ghazi Khan division to come forward and point out any government lands that have been grabbed as well as any illegal properties.
