ABBOTTABAD: Dr Haroon Qazi, a US-based plastic surgeon of Pakistani origin belonging to Abbottabad, has arrived to carry out free of cost operations of children born with congenital deformity of cleft lip and palate till Sept 2 here in Ayub Teaching Hospital.

Dr Qazi is a plastic surgeon with over 45 years of experience in plastic surgery, hand, maxillofacial, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. For the last 30 years, he has been on a mission of serving the people of Pakistan.

During his visits, he attended to approximately 60 cases each time. The cases mostly include that of cleft lip and cleft palate besides complicated born deformities of the face, eyelid, lip, neck, and hand. He visits Pakistan each year to conduct free surgeries.

Dr Qazi is a graduate of Khyber Medical College, Peshawar, and he received his specialisation in general surgery from New York and specialisation in plastic surgery from Colorado, US.

ATH media manager Amber Javed said that Dr Qazi had been conducting free surgeries for cleft lip and palate at Ayub Teaching Hospital.

She advised the patients to get registered with the surgical department for the treatment. Plastic surgeon Hamid Fazeel and assistant professor surgery Dr Shawana Asad are accompanying Dr Qazi on his mission.
