ABBOTTABAD: The body of a seven-year-old girl, who was subjected to sexual assault, was found in Nawansher area of Abbottabad city on Sunday night.

According to police officials, the girl had gone missing in Khareela village of Nawansher on Sunday afternoon and the body was recovered later in the evening. They said that the girls’ parents had informed the police after they failed to find her.

SP (headquarters) Qamar Hayat, quoting a medical report, confirmed that the girl was subjected to sexual assault before being murdered. The report also confirmed that the killers subjected her to physical torture as the body bore marks of violence, he added.

The victim was laid to rest in the village graveyard after her funeral prayer was held on Monday. Nawansher police registered the case and started further investigations.

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by three Afghan nationals in the limits of Havelian police station on Sunday.

The police registered the case on the complaint of the girl’s parents against the three.

Later, they arrested the three accused and produced them before a judicial magistrate who remanded them into police custody for further investigations.

In another incident, the Lora police arrested an accused on the complaint of the mother of a seven-year-old girl for assaulting her.
