GUJRANWALA, July 29: The Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) has made adjustments on 80 per cent seats in Gujranwala while adjustments on few seats will be made with the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in a couple of days.

This was stated by ARD leaders Ghulam Dastagir Khan, his son Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan, former MPA Abdul Rauf Mughal, former MNA Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk, PPP divisional president and MNA Chaudhry Imtiaz Safder Warraich and PPP city president Lalla Muhammad Idris while speaking at a joint press conference here on Friday.

They claimed that the ARD would make a clean sweep in the local body elections after foiling all attempts of a pre-poll rigging by the ruling PML.

ARD leaders said that the alliance’s major political parties — PML-N and PPP — were united against the ruling party. They urged the chief election commissioner to take steps for ensuring fair and transparent elections.

They claimed that the city was divided into four towns for the benefit of ruling party candidates, but they said that the ARD would soon challenge the decision in the Lahore High Court.

INJURED: Two supporters of an aspirant for the nazim seat of union council 131 were shot at and injured over an election row here on Friday. Mangora Butt and Ifrahim Butt were present in the election office of Umair Butt when two motorcyclists came there, opened fire on them and escaped from the scene. They sustained bullet injuries and were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital in serious condition.
