KOHAT: The link roads in Kohat and Doaba area of Hangu are in bad shape for several years.

Talking to this scribe, SDO communication and works Qaiser Khan claimed that work on the four-kilometre Doaba-Naryab road had been stopped after putting shingle on the track because MPA Zahoor Shakir wanted inclusion of more area in the project.

He said that now the revised PC-I was pending before the chairman district development advisory committee, MPA Shah Faisal, who had not signed it despite passage of several months.

The official said that as soon as the DDAC chairman approved the revised PC-I, work on the project would be resumed.

Yousuf Darwesh, a social worker, said that people of the area had been facing hardships by travelling on the road which was full of stones.

Similarly, the Barh-Jabbi road in Kohat was also in dilapidated condition for many years and the area MPA was not paying any heed to it.

The residents said that they had a bumpy ride while going to Kohat bazaar and it took several hours to cover the distance.

COUPLE KILLED: A couple was shot dead in Kharmatu town here on Thursday for allegedly contracting marriage without consent of their families over a decade ago.

Police officials told this correspondent that one Gul Zaman had married a girl despite opposition of their families.

They said that brothers of the girl had been demanding divorce to restore their family honour and waited for 13 years to take revenge.

The police said that Hashim and Shakir, brothers of the girl, went to the house of their brother-in-law and sprayed him and their sister with bullets. The two died on the spot.

Bilitang police have registered the case on the complaint of Mr Zaman’s father.
