BUNER: At least four people lost their lives and a boy was swept away following heavy rainfall, said officials on Wednesday.

Four members of a family were killed when the roof of their house gave way due to overnight downpour in Mandin tehsil in Buner district of Malakand Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to officials and residents.

Neighbours rushed towards Zahid Shah’s collapsed house which had trapped five people underneath its debris. They were able to retrieve all, four of whom had died and one, Zahid Shah, was seriously injured.

The victims were identified as Saleem Zada, 25, Bakht Sheed, 20, Hadia, 6, and Shahid, 3.

Flooding from overnight rain swept away nine-year-old Sudes in Lashora suburbs of village Soora. According to residents, the flash flood damaged at least 12 houses in the area. They said the boy was swept away when floodwaters hit his house.

Several people have been killed and injured in rain-related incidents across the country since July due to heavy monsoon rains.
