HARIPUR: Two persons were killed on road while a man was electrocuted in separate incidents in Haripur district, police said here on Saturday.

Police quoted eyewitnesses as saying that Sadia Bibi, 5, daughter of Mola Dad, a resident of Afghan Camp No 16, was returning home after visiting the district headquarters hospital, Haripur, along with her mother when a van hit the minor girl while crossing the Dheenda Road. She died on the spot.

In the second incident, Anees Ahmed was killed when the motorcycle he was riding went out of his control while going to Haripur city from Kahka village.

He was shifted to the Haripur Trauma Centre where he succumbed to head injuries.

In Bandi Sher Khan village, a mason identified as Pervez was electrocuted while working on the roof of an under-construction house.

Meanwhile, the police recovered decomposed body of a man from Shah Kabul village and shifted it to Khanpur tehsil headquarters hospital.

Police said though the body was beyond recognition as it was several days old, the clothes and the sandals recovered with the body showed that it was of Noor Khan, a resident of Sarbroot village, who had been missing for last six months.

Police and doctors said the cause of death was not immediately known.

Also, a married woman attempted to commit suicide over unknown reasons in Alam village.

Police quoted the family as saying that the woman following a brawl with her husband on Friday evening went to her bedroom and locked it from inside. After some time when her family broke into the room they found her lying unconscious.

Later, she was taken to the trauma centre where the doctors confirmed that she had consumed some poisonous substance. She was referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad.
