KARACHI: Fawad Ijaz Khan, Chairman Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association, on Saturday stated that PVCA is an independent body which holds its independent activities and matches all the year round and enjoys a fine relationship with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Clarifying a news item published in Dawn on Saturday with reference to the federal cabinet meeting regarding the changes in the PCB Constitution, Fawad said that it has been misreported in the press that the board will not promote veterans cricket.

“The fact of the matter is that all that was said by the PCB officials in the cabinet meeting was that the PCB needs not oversee PVCA’s affairs or activities since it is an independent body and is doing a good job on its own.”

Fawad said that a federal minister attending the cabinet meeting confirmed that since there were many changes being made in the PCB Constitution, it was discussed that the PVCA should be allowed to manage its own affairs and matches independently like before and the cricket board is entirely satisfied with that arrangement.
