KARACHI, July 27: Dr Imran Farooq has been brought back as convener of the reconstituted coordination committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, party sources confirmed to Dawn.

Dr Imran had  since May last year remained detached from party affairs. Besides Dr Imran, Mr Saleem Shahzad has also been inducted in the coordination committee after remaining sidelined for some time. MQM sources said that both leaders had insisted on serving the party as ordinary workers. But they have accepted the coordination committee’s decision to serve in the new positions.

Mr Tariq Javed would serve as senior deputy convener of the coordination committee. MQM founder Mr Altaf Hussain has endorsed the decision of the coordination committee.
