KARACHI, July 27: A mother and daughter were shot dead by unknown persons in Mohammadi Colony on Wednesday morning. Police said two persons barged into a house in Mohammadi Colony and tortured the two women inside the house. The suspects finally shot the two women identified as Madina Begum, 55 and Rabia, 35.

Police said Rabia had come to visit her mother’s house. According to initial investigations, Madina Begum’s husband Umar Khan had died a few months back in a police encounter.

The woman was a drug peddler and was in dispute with rest of the drug mafia active in the area, police claimed. According to initial investigations, the suspects involved in the killing could be members of the rival drug mafia.

A duty officer of the Docks police station said that Umar Khan was also a drug peddler who was killed in a police encounter.

Police shifted the bodies to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have registered an FIR against unknown persons on the complaint of Rabia’s father-in-law.

ACCIDENT: A young man died in an accident on Hub River Road on Wednesday. Police said Rehman Shakoor was driving a pickup when a speeding bus rammed into his vehicle.

Police said Rehman died on the spot. The bus driver escaped. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities.
