LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) claims to have solved rape-cum-murder case of a minor boy that occurred in the Batapur area some 10 days back and arrested the suspected killer.

The suspect belonged to the same area. The team was assigned the task after Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had taken notice of murder of class 3 student and directed the IGP for the arrest of the killer.

CIA SP Asim Iftikhar told the media on Thursday that the 10-year-old victim, the son of a labourer of Lakhan Sharif, Batapur, had gone to the fields on July 10 where the culprit kidnapped and raped him.

In order to conceal his identity and crime, the suspect strangled the child and smashed his dead with a brick. After committing heinous crime, the SP said, the suspect threw his body in a field and went underground.

Mr Iftikhar said the investigating team used modern technology to trace the rapist and killer. It had sent samples of several suspects to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency for DNA test besides conducting polygraph of many of them.

The modern investigation method helped the police trace and arrest the culprit.
