LAHORE: Shadbagh police on Wednesday arrested a former union council chairman and his nephew for harassing and beating a team of polio workers.

Identified as Shah Nawaz, the former UC chairman, and his nephew Aqeel Ahmad reportedly thrashed Deputy District Health Officer Dr Asad and his workers when they were administering anti-polio drops to children in a door-to-door campaign.

The incident occurred on Amir Road where the suspects attacked the team when it asked them to bring their children for vaccination.

Dr Asad later called the police which arrested both the suspects.
