LAHORE: The eagerly-awaited meeting of the PCB Cricket Committee has been convened for Aug 2 at the National Cricket Academy to review the performances of different national teams and present recommendations to the board chairman Ehsan Mani.

The meeting is overdue following the conclusion of the World Cup in England and Wales because the national selection committee, headed by Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Pakistan team management had completed their tenures.

According to a report, the committee was slated to meet on July 29.

PCB managing director Wasim Khan will chair the meeting, while former Pakistan captains Wasim Akram and Misbah-ul-Haq plus women’s wing representative Urooj Mumtaz will be in attendance as members of the committee. Ex-Pakistan all-rounder Mudassar Nazar (director academies) along with Haroon Rasheed (director domestic) with Zakir Khan (director international cricket) will attend the meeting as ex-officio members.

Wasim Akram, however, will attend the meeting through video-link.

“The agenda of the PCB Cricket Committee meeting includes review of the Pakistan men’s and women’s cricket teams as well as U-16 and U-19 teams’ performances and make recommendations to the PCB Chairman,” a PCB media release stated on Wednesday.

“[Outgoing chief selector] Inzamam-ul-Haq, [head coach] Mickey Arthur and [captain] Sarfraz Ahmed have been invited to attend the meeting and give their feedback and assessment of the Pakistan’s performances. Wasim Akram, however, will join the meeting via video link while rest of the members will attend in person,” it further said.

Inzamam is interested in continuing work in the PCB on another post, while Arthur is also keen on extending his contract, but the cricket board won’t take any such decision until after reviewing his performance and that of the members of the team management.
