KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) did not win the Ghotki by-election in NA-205 constituency, but it was threats, money and “Saeen Sarkar” which paved the way for the PPP candidate’s victory.

They should see the writing on the wall as the people of erstwhile Fata had also thrown the PPP into the dustbin, he said. “While the entire Sindh is demanding water, but Saeen Sarkar was spending billions of rupees in Ghotki elections, because the PPP politics is taking its last breath,” said Mr Sheikh, who was addressing a press conference at Insaf House along with other leaders in Karachi.

Mr Sheikh said the Sindh government had sent him five notices a day ago for speaking against the provincial government. Murtaza Wahab could not frighten PTI people by using the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE). There was billions worth of corruption in the Sindh government, but what was ACE doing about it, he asked.

PTI leaders Khurrum Sher Zaman, Jamal Siddiqui and MNA Shakoor Shad said that in the by-elections of NA-205 Ghotki, there was an independent candidate on one side while the entire Sindh government on the other. There were 4,000 policemen deployed in the elections besides the entire government machinery was utilised to support the party candidate, they said.
