HARIPUR: Two persons were killed in separate incidents here the other day.

Ghazi police quoted Mohammad Waqas, a resident of Salam Khand village, as saying that his brother-in-law Mohammad Zaheer was busy taking connection from the line supplying power to his home without permission.

Waqas said that when he tried to stop him he opened fire with a 30-bore pistol injuring him, his sister Tabasam Bibi and their father Mohammad Hasrat. The area people took the injured persons to THQ hospital, Ghazi, where the doctors pronounced Mr Hasrat dead, while others were admitted.

The second incident occurred in Ghazi tehsil where one Mohammad Daud, a resident of Jamshedabad, was hit by a motorcycle when he was crossing the road. He later succumbed to his injuries in the THQ hospital.

STRIKE: Nanbais of Haripur on Friday observed strike demanding increase in the price of roti (bread).

On the call of their association, the nanbais observed partial strike in the district against what they called levy of taxes and government’s pressure to keep the price of roti at Rs10.
