KOHAT: The Pesco consumers facing the problem of low voltage for the last one month have to suffer a prolonged power suspension from morning till noon in the sizzling heat here on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the power suspension during duty hours of tubewell operators caused acute shortage of water as the overhead tanks could not be filled to capacity.

When contacted, Water Supply and Sanitation Company manager operations Mohammad Naeem said that Pesco was busy in some repair work and suspended power supply from 7am to 3pm. He said that when they started tubewells the power loadshedding resumed which hampered water supply.

He explained that water was supplied from OTS Road and the one-kilometre-long pipe got filled in one hour after which loadshedding started, therefore, water could not reach the consumers.

He said the problem would continue for five more days. He said the commissioner, Kohat, had asked the Pesco executive engineer to resolve the issue at the earliest.

Similarly, almost all the feeders tripped every now and then during 24 hours, forcing the consumers to turn off electronic gadgets to save them from ceasing. The problem of low voltage also hit Garhi Mawaz Khan area.

Pesco officials have been saying that there is some problem in the Rawalpindi Road grid, which has to be fixed. They had said that the repair would be done between July 4 and July 8. However, for some areas they later changed the deadline to July 18.
