LAHORE: The Punjab Curriculum & Textbook Board (PCTB) on Tuesday seized around 30,000 Class IX books of Pakistan Studies for not being in accordance with the draft approved by the board.

PCTB spokesperson said the Pakistan Studies book for Class IX was banned vide letter No M-48-56/PSMD/2019, dated July 9, 2019.

He said a special board team conducted raids on book shops in different areas of the city and seized 30,000 books and shifted these to the PCTB godown on Multan Road.

He said the Anjuman-e-Tajran Urdu Bazar president had promised he would collect all such books in the market and hand them over to the PCTB.

He said a case was registered against the publishers concerned by Anarkali police.

“The book was published by a private publisher and it was not according to approved draft of the Punjab Textbook Board,” he added.
