US President Donald Trump on Tuesday fired a new Twitter salvo at India, accusing the giant Asian economy of unfairly blocking American imports.
“India has had a field day putting tariffs on American products,” the president tweeted.
“No longer acceptable.”
Trump's sparring with Delhi over trade has heated up just as Washington seeks to resolve its year-long trade battle with China.

Earlier this year he stripped India of benefits which allowed some duty-free exports to the United States, claiming that India had refused to grant wider access to American-made goods.
India also was hit by worldwide tariffs on steel and aluminum that Trump imposed last year and lodged a dispute against the US in the World Trade Organisation with about 30 other economies.
Last month, India slapped duties on dozens of US products, including hundreds of millions of dollars in almonds from California as well as other US fruits and nuts.

Trump placed tariffs on Indian Aluminium and steel. India waited for a reasonable accommodation. Trump took away India’s special trading status. India reacted with tariffs on almonds and apples.Now, does India really need American apples and almonds? They were just being bought out of a sense of fairplay in trade.

@Ga, If for Mr. Trump America first is hs policy then for Modi India first is the same policy. America should understand that International trade has to be done in give and take basis. It cannot be done ruled by one party hegemonically.

Indian companies like Infosys, Tata Consultancy services, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra etc have created more than 300,000 jobs in USA. This apart from onsite workforce.
Mahindra makes small tractors, Jeep Roxor in Detroit, Jaguar Land Rover makes cars.
India is the biggest market for Facebook Twitter and Google Amazon and Walmart outside of US, China.
Mr Trump Indians pay highest in social security to US tax authorities.

India and US will deal with it in a mature way. India understands Trumps style of working and will reciprocate in a way which keeps Trump happy without compromising on its own interests. This is not a lets see who wins relation this is a win-win relation.

That would ensure that Modi could not reduce tariff even if he wants.
Trump tweeted similar tweets regarding Russian anti missile system which also ensured that the Russian deal could not be scrapped .
The reason is that if Modi start obeying his tweets ,then Midi would be reduced to a wimp in the eye of the entire world.
Trump should learn diplomacy from Putin who seems always to have his way in international arena without tweeting anything.
