KARACHI: Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan on Monday sought immediate completion of inquiry into last week’s firing incident at the Lahore airport and issued directives for compliance of all security protocols at the facility.

The directives came during the federal minister’s visit to the Allama Iqbal International Airport along with senior aviation and Airport Security Force (ASF) officials.

“Federal minister of aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan visited the place of the recent assassination incident at Allama Iqbal International Airport on Monday, and asked ASF officials to complete the inquiry as almost immediately and also asked for the compliance of inquiry report,” said the statement.

“Lahore airport’s chief executive officer Nazeer Ahmad Khan informed him about the conveniences and services provided to the passengers on the airport and especially to the Haj pilgrims. The meticulous briefing was given by Ali Tipu, chief security officer of the airport,” it added.

Last week, two young hired assassins had shot dead a passenger and a taxi driver in the crowded but high security zone of the Allama Iqbal International Airport in a brazen attack. The shooting had left three other persons wounded, who were said to be in stable condition at a local hospital where they were shifted on private transport.
