PESHAWAR: Pakistan Engineering Council chairman Javed Saleem Qureshi has demanded technical allowance for the engineers working in power distribution companies.

A statement issued here said that Mr Qureshi has written a letter to the federal minister for energy Umar Ayub Khan and secretary power division, which states that engineers working in these companies are backbone of country’s economy. It said that salaries these engineers were receiving did not commensurate with their competency.

It said recently KP and Punjab governments decided to give technical allowance to engineers and it would be injustice to deny the same to engineers working in distribution companies of Pepco.

The letter demanded technical allowance at the rate of 1.5 per cent of the basic pay for the engineers and asked the government to immediately implement it.
