CHARSADDA: The Bacha Khan University Charsadda on Tuesday distributed certificates and cash prizes among the faculty members for earning eight projects worth Rs37.21 million from the Higher Education Commission.

The awards were distributed at a ceremony held on the premises of the varsity, where HEC Director General, Peshawar Centre Mohammad Arshad Kamran was the chief guest. Vice Chancellor Dr Saqlain Naqvi was also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, Mr Kamran said that winning of the projects was a big achievement which would bring prosperity and progress to Bacha Khan University Charsadda. While congratulating the winning faculty members, he said the faculty members had submitted remarkable proposals for getting the projects.

VC Saqlain Naqvi while lauding the role of the faculty members said that they had done a great job to earn the projects, adding it was more than his expectations. He said such achievements would bring extraordinary progress to the university.

He said the days were not far when the varsity would get name among the reputed universities across the country. “Today we are at 10th position among the 24 universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but soon we will be among the top position holders,” the vice chancellor hoped. It merits a mention here that faculty members of 24 different departments in Bacha Khan University had submitted proposals to HEC. Of them, eight members won the projects.

Dr Tabbasum Yasin of botany department, Dr Raham Dad of agriculture, Dr Arshad Bangash of sociology, Dr Fazal Akbar Jan, Dr Mohammad Iqbal and Dr Mohammad Idrees of chemistry department and Dr Sajjad Ali Shah and Dr Ajmal Khan of biotechnology department were the winners of the projects.
