KOHAT: District development advisory committee chairman, MPA Shah Faisal has said that the provincial government has approved Rs700 million for the uplift schemes under the Hangu beautification plan.

Talking to journalists, he said the sanctioned money would be spent on construction of roads, a sports stadium, water supply schemes, tourist resorts, parks, installing streetlights and other public welfare projects, according to a statement issued here on Tuesday.

Mr Faisal said the district had not received such a huge grant in its history which was a clear proof that how much attention the government was giving to the areas which had been neglected in the past.

He said the government was sincere in ameliorating the lot of the people.

The MPA said the PTI government believed in corruption-free regime and transparency would be followed in the development projects.

HEALTH CENTRES TO BE SOLARISED: The OGDCL will help in solarisation of four newly-established health centres of Family Planning Association of Pakistan (FPAP) in Lachi tehsil.

This was announced by the company’s regional coordinator Mushfiq Paracha during a visit to the FPAP’s medical centre in Baraghzai. FPAP programme manager Ajmal Khan was also present.

Mr Paracha toured the facility and after holding negotiations with the Waste-2 programme coordinator Sarmad Rasheed promised to give monetary support to solarise association’s health centres in Baraghzai, Mandori, Shakardarra and Lachi.

On the occasion, Ajmal Khan said they had hired buildings for all the four centres in the neglected areas where most of the women died due to birth-related complications.

He said talks were going on with the foreign aid agencies for establishing more health facilities. He said except medical equipment all the staff, including male, female doctors, and other staff had already been hired.

SPORTS GALA CONCLUDES: A cricket sports gala involving 12 teams concluded in the Marai union council on Tuesday. Mir Bad Shah team won the tournament defeating Lachki Qalandar team.

District councillor Mian Shah Raza was the chief guest on the occasion. Regional sports officer Syed Sikandar Shah and large a number of cricket lovers and elders attended the concluding ceremony.

Shah Raza also gave away trophies to the winning and runner-up teams and individual prizes to the best players.
