PCB to review cricket side, support personnel's 3-year performance after World Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will review and analyse the performances of the cricket side and team support personnel over the last three years once the World Cup has concluded, the body's Board of Governors decided at a meeting on Wednesday.
The Pakistan cricket team has so far played four group stage matches in the World Cup tournament, out of which it has won just one. A match against Sri Lanka was abandoned due to rain.
The team's disappointing performance against India on Sunday prompted criticism from various quarters, including former cricketers, with questions raised over the side's preparation and the structure of cricket in the country.

The findings and recommendations of the review will be submitted to PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani and the BoG for their consideration, a press release issued by the PCB stated.
The Board agreed that the teams's performance in the tournament had been "below expectation", but hoped that the Greenshirts would "utilise all their talent and potential in the remaining matches to bounce back strongly and finish on a high".
The PCB BoG also "expressed faith, support and confidence in the side", the statement said.
The meeting was attended by Mani, Asad Ali Khan (Member), Lt Gen (R) Muzammil Hussain (Member), Kabir Ahmed Khan (Member), Muhammad Imran Farookhi (Member), Muhammad Ayaz Butt (Member), Shahrez Abdullah Khan (Member), Shahdost (Member), Akbar Durrani (Ex-Officio).

How many times has that happened, and what results have we got out of these analysis? 2003, 2007, after every disastrous tour of Australia and South Africa, nothing happens. I suggest that the PCB stop blaming players and, for once, accept that the entire cricket and administrative structure of the PCB is at fault, and then start building everything from scratch.

PCB mistimed it. It is conspicuously clear that PCB is cheating and blackmailing their own team so that they can be (de)motivated to win their remaining matches. Totally cruel on part of PCB. Sarfaraz and the team have already been sufficiently demoralised by one and all. PCB is patron and even with the best intention, such behaviour of PCB & that too in mid way of the tournament cannot be justified.

Inzamam forced Sarfaraz to field first. He doesn't want any Karachi based player to lead the team. He has formed a grouping with Imad, Imam, Malik. Sarfaraz even wanted a different team for clash against India. But Inzamam forced this team selection on him. His mere presence in England raises many questions. If anyone should be sacked, it should be Inzamam and his group.

Pakistani cricket cannot be fixed before Pakistan itself is fixed.
Therefore,.expect this underperformance to continue, no matter what the PCB does.
By the way, the pain seems to be mostly that Pakistan lost to India specifically. There was no such hullabaloo when Pakistan lost consistently to Australia, New Zealand and England, whole series one after another. But lose one match to India, and all hell breaks loose.

This is amazing !. Pakistan Played 5 games 1 washout , 1 upset loss (WI), 1 Upset win (Eng). and 2 expected loss to higher ranked opponent . Mind it they had chance to win against Australia. Few questions:
1. As we all know Pakistan had to defeat 6 teams to get into semis. Before start of the tournament, and considering team stats, give me 5 teams which Pakistan can defeat on regular day, without any super extra game?
2. If you want to cry, cry about lose to WI or about performance in overall tournament, not just one game
3. When everybody knew India was a far better team, were you expecting miracle like CT every time?

PCB is the problem. When you look at our Chief Selector Inzamam ul Haq,
a pot belly, unfit and encourages players to eat Biyanis.
What kind of a role model is Inzamam, I don't think any of countries Chief Selectors are fat and overweight.
It was very embarrassing to see Pakistan captain in toss up with Jason Holding and then against slender six pack Virat Kohli, and here have the Pakistan captain not only unfit but was caught yawning during the match, absolutely terrible and then come up with same old lame excuses.
I think Rameez is right, they need to sack everybody connected with Pakistan's cricket, that is Ehsan Mani, Inzamam ul Haq, Mickey Arthur, Azhar Mahmood ,

Top teams have a wide pool of players to chose from and have some form of highly competitive national league or tournament. India have bought themselves into the top rankings through IPL. Pak cannot even play matches at home. For Pak to succeed on international stage they need to select 100 or so top players to a national cricket academy and train them to very high standards.

Another announcement made in a haste and without proper thought. The timing of this leaves a lot to be desired. This shows unprofessionalism on the part of PCB. The only match I can see Pakistan winning is against Afghanistan that to if they play properly, now Bangladesh also has the calibre to give a humiliating defeat to Pakistan.

Please do an extensive review from July 2017 to July 2019. When I say extensive I don't mean just win/loss, do review by player, selection process, etc. Please do it in all formats. In that way team would get credit for being number 1 in T-20 and no credit for being number 7 in Test and number 6 in ODI. And please make the review process at least once every 2 years. Biggest blunder Pakistan made was playing a wicket keeper who does not have skills to bat higher than 8, and two former bowling allrounders (Hafeez and Malik) as front line batsmen. That means the team was made up of 3 front line batsmen, 6 low order batsmen, and 2 tail-enders. No one can win a world cup with that makeup of a team. You need a minimum of 5 front line batsmen to win a world cup. Haris should have played in place of Malik, Rizwan should have played in place of Sarfaraz. Make these changes and the team has a chance of doing much better. So we should not blame the players, we should blame the clueless person appointed as selector who has no business being a selector.

I think PCB is responsible for each and every action of the team and cannot get away with it. PCB should resign along with any other team member.

Inzamam must go first, what exactly is he doing with the team? Selecting team of oldies and favoritism is the cause. Keep selecting Shoaib, Professor and tired old fast bowlers who can't even bowl yorkers! Can someone bring him the news that players who cant field should not be selected. Look at their garbage averages! Are we surprised by their sloppy work. Being labelled "unpedictable" is a symbol of school boys cricket.. please improve the selection criteria, fitness level, alertness, and abondon biased selection.

I have been a great fan of Pak cricketers like Wasim Akram, Waqar Yunus, Saeed Anwar and likes. We need a good Pak team for contest with India. It's no fun watching one sided contest. Desparate times need desparate measures....

Pakistan cricket is a reflection of Pakistan as a nation. Its failing on all fronts. there is no quick fix to this. you need to start planning and executing now for 2027 world cup with your under 19 team now. The reality is that it will take another two world cups for Pakistan to get back to parity with world and have any hope to compete at highest level.

Leading into the tournament I could see so many pictures where Inzamam was actively involved with Sarfaraz and Arthur. He is just a selector and his job ends there. Gives a feeling that he might be overruling Mickey Arthur's decisions.

India's main opened Dhawan didn't play.
India lost a main bowler Buvaneshwar who bowled on 2 overs and was unavailable for slog overs.
Rohit threw his wicket.
Kohli gifted his wicket.
Dhoni gifted Babar a life by not reviewing else he was plumb LBW.
Rahul dropped an easy catch of Imad.
Pandya and Dhoni batted poorly.
Indian fielding was also not usual sharp.
Bumrah bowled rather underpar due to fear of losing foothold.
Only Pandya bowled at 144kmph when he was excited.
What more could India have done to help Pakistan?

Once again, wrong timing of this information. Let the world cup is over and then come with your plans. The Board cannot review itself. Its conflict of interest. Few sane minded, cricket knowledge, and without any connection to the Board, should be appointed in a small (4-5) committee to review the whole process, including Board performance, selection committee, team management including manager, coach and others and then the individual players performance. This way, an objective and transparent report will suggest way forward.

Non of them have any dignity, they think by saying the words 'bounce back they are giving false hopes to the nation. We always had the problem in our system. No investment is made for the team by providing them with the state of the art facilities , the nutrition and exercise they need to stay fit. Everyone is filling their own pockets, nobody cares about the image of this country. Players have zero mentality and are more prone to brand deals and coming in ads rather then focusing on their cricket. The coach needs to be changed, the management needs to be changed, the team needs to be changed. Period.
